About the role
Lead applied research that makes personal agents more capable, reliable, and useful. Connect scientific progress to better outcomes for the people who use One Agent.
What you will own
- Set the research agenda for memory, personalization, planning, tool use, trustworthy autonomy, evaluation, and human-agent interaction.
- Own experimental rigor, research priorities, evaluation quality, and evidence for capability claims. Choose when adaptation of existing models is sufficient.
- Lead research scientists and research operations. Build university collaborations and transfer validated work into engineering with reproducible artifacts.
What we need to see
- Original research or equivalent applied breakthroughs, statistical judgment, credible technical writing, and evidence of improving real products. Strong records can come from industry or academia.
Your first 90 days
- 30 days: define the highest-value research questions, baselines, and evaluation weaknesses.
- 60 days: establish a reproducible experiment pipeline and complete the first focused experiments.
- 90 days: validate one improvement against held-out cases, document its limitations, and agree on a production transfer or a clear stop decision.
Success measures
Validated improvement against baselines; reproducibility; research-to-product adoption; experiment cycle time; cost per useful experimental result.
Interview work sample
Defend a previous result, including negative findings. Propose an experiment to improve autonomous task completion while detecting failure and avoiding evaluation leakage.
Scope
The researcher establishes scientific evidence. The CTO and product and execution leaders decide when and how a capability becomes a supported product.
